Cheryl Kirby Genord, RPh, BS Pharm

Cheryl Genord has worked as a clinical pharmacy specialist in pain management at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for over 25 years. She is extensively involved in the Enhanced Recovery and Perioperative Surgical Home programs at St. Joes. Cheryl has developed the Opioid Exit plan which educates patients on how to taper off their opioids after surgery and well as a Pain Medication Regimen Classification use to order and administer opioids effectively. She has developed a Student pharmacist run postoperative discharge counseling program that focuses on appropriate post discharge pain management.

Cheryl has served on multiple hospital committees including the Pain Collaborative Practice Team, Substance Use Disorder Task Force and the Opioid Utilization Reduction Steering committee for Trinity Health. She has maintained various faculty appointments teaching Doctor of Pharmacy students. In her pain management role, Cheryl has conducted numerous educational programs on pain management and participated in many pain-research projects. Her articles and research have been published in various peer reviewed scientific journals.
